Engage was amazing

Wow .. Engage is the biggest IBM user group outside of IBM’s own Connect (the conference formally known as Lotusphere).
Over 400 people gathered in Eindhoven for 2 days of fantastic content, great sessions and speakers, awesome networking and social events.

The venue was stunning .. basically we were in a flying saucer for 2 days. A great space, plenty of room for the sessions, massive area for sponsors and networking – the food was amazing, and there was chocolate and beer πŸ™‚

I was lucky enough to speak with Christoph Stoettner on day one and our session was well received. Covering install, migrating, documenting and best practises for IBM Connections and its associated software in an hour and trying to cover all operating systems was fun .. but we managed and had 5 mins for Q&A. Speaking with Christoph is always a pleasure and never a chore πŸ™‚

One of the highlights of the two days was the IBM Champion round table with the new General manager of ICS – Inhi Cho Suh. Announced into her new position at IBM Connect in January, she took time out of her busy schedule to spend a day at Engage. The Champions round table was great, the enthusiasm in the room from both Inhi and us was something I hadn’t seen for a while. Its so nice to have someone at the top that is as passionate about this stuff as we are. I am genuinely excited and looking forward to waht the future is going to offer. For customers and business partners alike – as we are all users of this software.

If you have never attended a user group, you should, there are many .. and they really do span world wide and covere a range of software that the ICS/Lotus brand covers. Thanks to the wonderful Amanda Bauman the user groups are now part of theΒ  World Wide Independent User Group Alliance – IBM are standardising the way they support user groups which is fantastic.

Thank you again Theo and team for all the hard work you do .. and how are you going to top this next year?

I am looking forward to finding out

Sharon

Not long until IBM Connect 2016

connect2016

The first conference of 2016 is almost upon us and to be honest we are pretty excited about it.

What with the announcement and release of Connections 5.5 and Docs 2.0 before Christmas – we are really looking forward to seeing the what’s next? sessions.

Talking of sessions – wow the agenda is packed with LOADS of good stuff. IBM have listened to the feedback taken over the past couple of years and they have split off the panels, ( which to be fair non of us techie types are interested in), into their own sessions, there are a tonne of admin and dev sessions, lots of whats new and how do i? sessions – totally impressed at the schedule. A very busy few days will be had.

A new venue too at the Hilton Orlando off destination park way (very close to sea world – almost walking distance) – the venue looks great, massive rooms, lots of meeting space – the only thing that concerns is the bars and social areas look a lot smaller that the *swolphin* – is the hilton ready for the *crowd* – time will tell.

All in all though – really looking forward to it .. see you in 22 sleeps πŸ™‚ Check out more info on the IBM Connect 2016 site

ICONUK was a blast

We had a great time yesterday at ICONUK at IBM Southbank.

After Warren and Kitty decided that they could no longer carry on the conference the mighty Tim Clark aided by Tony Holder stepped in to take up the challenge. Starting out with a one day event to see if it was still viable – I would say after yesterday – yes it is.

I presented with Christoph (details of which are on the presentation page), assisted Bill Malchisky with the ask IBM session, won a pebble smart watch from Crossware in speed sponsoring, caught up with lots of our friends, made some new ones and Nathan managed to learn lots about TDI and other technologies. All in all it was a fantastic day.

Thanks to Oliver for these awesome pics of the day πŸ™‚
